A high school kid who plays football for Northwestern Lehigh in New Tripoli, Pennsylvania, Tucker Wessner, has sadly died after falling off a pickup truck.
Wessner sustained traumatic brain injuries from the fall that occurred several weeks ago.
After a long battle for survival, he eventually succumbed to his injuries, and his death was announced on Wednesday.
What happened to Tucker Wessner?
Tucker Wessner, a beloved high schooler in New Tripoli sustained a traumatic brain injury after falling off a pickup truck.
The tragic accident led to him sustaining multiple skull fractures and precipitated a lengthy hospital stay fighting off death.
His brain injuries proved tough to handle for the ICU staff at the hospital he was sent to as they battled for weeks utilizing multiple strategies in an attempt to keep him stable.
According to his family, doctors tried relieving pressure on his brain by drilling a small hole but that did not work and they had to turn to more drastic measures, ie removing a section of his skull!
Tucker fought long and bravely but eventually, he could not survive the complications from his fall and he was sadly announced dead by his family this week.
Numerous family members jumped on social media to share glowing tributes to the young man and mourn his passing.
His aunt, Heather Utt described Wessner’s death as the ‘hardest thing ever’.
She revealed she always saw him as more of a son than a nephew and that she was floored God decided to take him so young.
Nevertheless, Heather wished him well on his new journey to the afterlife and expressed her love for him.
Wessner is being remembered for his unique ability to make people smile with his sense of humor and for making every where he went feel just a bit brighter with his mere presence.
He leaves behind a legacy of hard work, dedication, and pure unbridled joy.
Tucker’s passing has been a great loss for his family, community, and school, Northwestern Lehigh where he played football.
Tragedies such as these are a fact of life but they are never easy to deal with despite this knowledge.
